The eight day movement strikes on a bell on the half and the hour and also repeats the previous hour upon demand by pressing the repeat button. Comes with its original gilt embossed carry case. This very nice rococo carriage clock has a time only movement with alarm. The case is a finely made one piece gilt brass casting with matching back door. It’s all in excellent condition with unmarked dial, original hands, including the alarm hand and original side lever platform escapement. It’s a bit different to most carriage clocks and a bit earlier being made circa 1870. 19cm handle up. $2950 |
This is a fascinating and very attractive little carriage clock made in the Pendule d'Officier style. It uses a rare chaffcutter escapement rather than the ubiquitous lever or cylinder escapements used in nearly all carriage clocks. The time only movement runs for a week and includes an alarm function. The movement and case are all beautifully made and in excellent condition. Perfect dial and lovely gilt hands. It's marked Tiffany and Co. on the dial which tells you it's a top quality clock. Made circa 1900. $1850 |
